The objects of association for AJEA are:
a) To foster and promote the understanding and appreciation of jazz and associated musical genres and their artistic performance.
b) To lend assistance and guidance in the organization and development of jazz and associated music genres in music curricula in Western Australian schools, colleges and universities to include courses of study at all levels of instruction, stage bands, vocal/choral groups and organizations and ensembles of all types.
c) To involve and guide general music and vocal teachers and students as well as instrumental teachers and students in actual creative experiences in both understanding and playing jazz as one means to this end, to proffer encouragement and assistance in the formation of vocal-electronic (and/or) conventionally instrumented school music groups, in primary and secondary schools.
d) To foster the application of jazz principles to music materials and methods at all levels.
e) To foster and encourage the development and adoption of curricula which will explore contemporary jazz composition, arranging and improvisation.
f) To disseminate educational and professional news of interest to Western Australian music educators.
g) To organise and to assist in the organization of clinics, festivals and symposia in jazz and popular music at local, regional and State levels.
h) To co-operate with the Australian Jazz Education Association and other regional chapters of the parent organization in the same or similar activities at national-regional or national levels.
i) To co-operate with all organizations dedicated to the development of musical culture in Western Australia and Australia.
j) To network internationally with other jazz organisations.
